ARE WE AWARE?
ARE WE AWARE?
As the MEDICANA Education Group MBA Schools, we organize a Holistic Development Summit every year and the theme of this year’s summit was “Awareness”.
Held at our Çamlıca Campus, the summit started with the street interviews video shot by our student senate and continued with our guests’ speeches.
Sabancı University CIP Department Coordinator Zeynep Bahar Çelik was one of the speakers of the Holistic Development Summit. In her speech on “Social Awareness”, she shared examples from university moving from general to specific awareness and volunteer work of university students. She drew attention to the importance of getting ready for work life leaving behind their roles as students and assuming new roles as employees and how it contributes to their life if they are aware of their roles in different spheres of life.
While listening to “Language Awareness” from Mrs. Feyza Hepçilingirler who is a writer, we not only remembered the importance of keeping language alive, but also the need of preserving it in order to keep culture alive. We all laughed at the examples of language misuse but it also made us all sad.
In her presentation on “Diet Awareness”, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics from Fenebahçe University Dr. Mr. Muazzez Garipağaoğlu shared with us interesting information on how the right diet should be, the needs of our body, diet according to age groups, and the false facts.
When Dr. Murat Tuncer, Head of Organ Transplantation Department of MEDICANA Hospitals, explained what “Philanthropy Awareness” is, we all felt that every person might need help one day. Dr. Tuncer pointed out that philanthropy is one of the values that glorifies us and stressed the importance of why people help others.
The last speaker of the day was Mr. Gülçin Oranlı, known as the Black Continent Volunteer. Gülçin Oranlı's
examples of “Self-Awareness” based on her voluntary work in Africa for a year were very inspiring. We learned that being aware of one's own self can be a real source of motivation for us to live by knowing what we want in life. And that the whole continent of Africa is actually very colorful …
With my sincere hope that our awareness will increase further…
